Bellary is situated in North Karnataka, is 300Km from Bangalore. It has a rich cultural, social and political heritage.The city is believed to have derived its name from the demon Balahari, who was killed by Indra, the king of Gods. Another legend has it that Bellary derived its name from the “Balla”, which was used as the symbol of Lord Shiva in the Malleshwara Temple, the presiding deity of the city. |
